Germany Chancenkarte: How the Opportunity Card Works

What is the Chancenkarte?

The Chancenkarte (Opportunity Card) is a points-based visa introduced by Germany in June 2024. It allows qualified professionals from non-EU countries to come to Germany and search for work for up to 12 months.

Points System

The points-based system evaluates candidates on: qualifications (recognized university degree or vocational qualification), professional experience, language skills (German and English), age, and connection to Germany.

Eligibility

• Recognized university degree or vocational qualification
• At least 3 years of professional experience in the last 7 years
• German language skills at B1 level OR English at B2 level
• Adequate financial resources to support yourself

How to Apply

Apply at the German embassy or consulate in your home country. You will need your qualification recognition, proof of language skills, evidence of work experience, and proof of financial means.
